Unstable ground conditions close Bransty Tunnel between Corkickle and Whitehaven
Period:Friday, September 12 to Monday, September 22
Operators:Northern
Related Information:During pre-planned engineering work at Bransty Tunnel, between Corkickle and Whitehaven, inspections revealed unstable ground conditions which require urgent repair. As a result, the line through the tunnel is closed.
Buses are replacing trains between Corkickle and Whitehaven.
Disruption is expected until further notice.

Service impact:
Train services are running between Lancaster / Barrow-in-Furness and Corkickle, and also between Whitehaven and Carlisle. Buses will replace trains between Corkickle and Whitehaven.
Ticket acceptance:
You can use your ticket on Avanti West Coast and TransPennine Express services between Lancaster and Carlisle at no extra cost.
Northern ticket restrictions have been lifted during this disruption so that you may travel via any reasonable route.
Additionally, if the train you have a ticket for is cancelled, you can travel on any Northern or TransPennine Express service within two hours before or after your cancelled service was due to depart. This is at no extra cost, and does not require you to amend your ticket.

Related Information:A fault on a train is causing disruption to journeys running on the line between Bedford and Bletchley.
As a result of this, a reduced service is in operation between these stations.
This is expected to be the case throughout the day today.

Rail replacement transport is in operation between Bedford and Bletchley, in both directions.

Signalling cable theft impacts routes between Bargoed and Rhymney
Period:Monday, September 22 to Monday, September 22
Operators:Transport for Wales
Related Information:There has been signalling cable theft between Bargoed and Rhymney, closing the line running between these stations.
As a result, trains are unable to operate. Brithdir, Tir-phil, Pontlottyn and Rhymney stations will not be served.
Services running between Barry Island / Bridgend and Rhymney will be revised to operate between Barry island / Bridgend and Cardiff Central only.
Trains running between Barry Island and Bargoed are able to operate as normal.
This is expected until the end of the day.
Customer advice:
A rail replacement bus service will operate between Bargoed and Rhymney. Buses are expected to be in place from approximately 08:00 at Rhymney and 08:30 at Bargoed.
