Arriving at Manchester Airport

Taking the train from Manchester Victoria to Manchester Airport gets you to the heart of the airport site. Manchester Airport railway station offers access to all three terminals. Escalators, lifts, ramps and the Skylink walkway to the terminal buildings are linked to the station platforms. Terminal 1 is less than five minutes away from the station, and walking to Terminal 2 or Terminal 3 should take about 5–8 minutes.

Manchester Airport has its own tram, bus and coach station. Rail services are operated by TransPennine Express, Northern and Transport for Wales (TfW), travelling between the airport and places like Blackpool, Glasgow and Llandudno.

• First Class: Manchester to Manchester Airport First Class coaches include sockets at every seat. Specific TransPennine Express services also offer complimentary food. The Express Plus service runs from 07:00 to 18:30 Monday to Friday and between 09:00 and 18:30 on weekends. You can buy cheap train tickets by booking ahead.

TransPennine Express train travel advice

• Luggage: Bring up to three pieces of luggage (one item of hand luggage and two larger pieces under 30 x 70 x 90 centimetres).
• Bicycles: Reservations are compulsory for bikes and e-bikes. You can’t charge e-bikes on board. E-scooters and similar devices are not permitted.
• Children: Two under-5s can travel with an adult for free. Most Advance tickets are half price for 5–15-year-olds. Additional savings are available with the 16–17 Saver Railcard or Family and Friends Railcard. Pushchairs should be folded and stored in the luggage racks or cycle area (when not reserved).
• Pets: Up to two dogs can board when on a lead. Smaller pets should be in a secure carrier.
• Passenger Assist: Contact the Passenger Assist Team to request help such as using ramps at stations. TransPennine Express recommends booking in advance.
