Kingston train station

Located in Kingston upon Thames in south-west London, Kingston station provides direct connections to Greater London and Surrey. Originally called Kingston Town to avoid confusion with the earlier Kingston railway station (now Surbiton), the station opened in 1863. It was the then terminus of the London & South Western Railway’s new branch line from Twickenham, which was later extended in 1869 to join the South West Main Line.

Kingston was rebuilt by the Southern Railway in 1935. More recent refurbishments include moving the entrance a few metres from the corner of Wood Street and Richmond Road to Wood Street. Trains stop at intermediate stations, like all intermediate South Western Railway (SWR) stations within London. Fast services to mid-distance destinations are not available.

Kingston station has WiFi hotspots, coffee shops, vending machines, heated waiting rooms and toilets. The ticket office is open 06:40–20:30 Monday to Saturday and 08:30–18:00 on Sunday. You can also collect tickets from the machines if you book train tickets online.
