Stevenage Train Station
These days, Stevenage is an important transport hub. It is located only half an hour from London Kings Cross and connects the UK capital with cities like Leeds, York, Newcastle, and Edinburgh on the East Coast Main Line. If you’re heading to London from up north, you know you’re almost at Kings Cross once you reach Stevenage.
This station opened in 1973, although the original station was constructed north of the town in 1850. Back then, it caused quite a storm as some worried it would ruin the stagecoach business, which, sadly, it did.
Today the busy commuter station boasts several services and amenities, including:
- A ticket office (opening times: Monday to Thursday: 6.15am – 8.30pm; Friday: 6.15 – 9.45pm; Saturday: 6.30am – 9.30pm; Sunday: 8am – 7.15pm). You can book train tickets as well as monthly and annual season tickets at the ticket office.
- Self-service ticket machines and accessible ticket machines. Plus, you can collect tickets you have bought online from the self-service machines.
- Step-free access to all platforms.
- Boards to check the real-time train timetable.
- Shops and hospitality.
- 266 bicycle storage stands.
