Birmingham New Street Train Station

Way back in the 19th century, in 1838, Birmingham was the site of the first inter-city railway from London. Today, Birmingham New Street Station is the busiest railway station outside London, with approximately 33.3 million passengers passing through it in just one year, between 2023 and 2024.

Located on Station Street in central Birmingham, near the well-known Brummie retail staple, the Bullring Shopping Centre, Birmingham New Street is frequented by commuters travelling to and from Birmingham from the rest of the West Midlands and long-distance travellers heading to other parts of the UK, such as Liverpool, Manchester, and London.

It’s also a hub for the West Midlands rail network, where CrossCountry’s network is based around New Street and provides local services to the rest of the country as well as regional services within the West Midlands.

This journey takes between one hour and two and a half hours. There are around eighty-eight daily trains; the first train leaves at 5.30am, and the last leaves at 1.39am.

Wolverhampton to Birmingham New Street

It takes between twenty-five and fifteen minutes to get from Wolverhampton to Birmingham New Street. There are approximately 172 trains per day or eight trains per hour. Services start as early as 4.57am and finish at 11.48pm.

It takes around one hour and fifty minutes to get from Liverpool Lime Street to Birmingham New Street. There are fifty-two daily services.
