Departing from Bridlington

Just a short walk from the seafront and harbour, Bridlington station is easily accessible from the town centre, beaches and promenade.

Managed by Northern, the station offers step-free access, ticket machines, waiting areas, toilets and cycle storage. From here, regular services run south to Hull every half hour, with many trains continuing to Doncaster, Sheffield or York, while northbound direct trains travel to Scarborough along the Yorkshire Coast Line every hour.

Arriving at Scarborough

Arriving into Scarborough station, you’ll step into a Grade II listed building just 42 miles east of York, famous for its record-breaking 139m platform bench – thought to be the longest in the world. The station is only a five-minute walk from the town centre, with easy onward connections by local bus, taxi or on foot.

At the end of both the North TransPennine route and the Yorkshire Coast Line, Scarborough station offers direct services to York, Manchester and Leeds with TransPennine Express, as well as Northern services to Sheffield, Hull, York and Doncaster. Scarborough station provides step-free access throughout, accessible toilets and waiting rooms as well as a staffed ticket office.

Scarborough’s dramatic headland is crowned by the ruins of its medieval castle, while along the seafront, the historic Scarborough Spa recalls the town’s role as Britain’s first seaside resort, once a fashionable escape for wealthy Londoners. Today, alongside the timeless seaside pleasures of sand, sea and promenade, cultural life thrives at the Stephen Joseph Theatre, home to many of Sir Alan Ayckbourn’s plays.

• Luggage: Northern doesn’t have a strict baggage limit, but as space is limited, it’s best to travel light, ideally with just one small bag and one medium suitcase per passenger. Use the overhead shelves, under-seat space or end-of-carriage racks to keep aisles, doors and wheelchair areas clear.
