Departing from Greenwich

Located around 400 metres from the centre of this south-east London district, Greenwich station provides the quickest rail route into central London. You can reach the station by bus, Dockland Light Railway (DLR) or via the Quietway 1 cycle route.

Train services from Greenwich station offer diverse travel options, linking to destinations such as Barnehurst and Rainham. Thameslink and Southeastern are the main operators, providing extensive regional coverage.

Arriving at London Bridge

Located south-east of the bridge from which it takes its name, London Bridge station is the final stop on the Greenwich to London train. Other rail routes from the station serve Orpington, Croydon, Epsom, Gatwick Airport and other locations in southern England. Thameslink, Southeastern and Southern run the majority of services.

Onward travel within London includes frequent local bus routes, cabs from the taxi ranks outside and the Tube (Northern and Jubilee lines).

Thameslink train travel advice

• Luggage: Passengers can bring up to two larger items (no bigger than 90 x 70 x 30 centimetres) and a piece of hand luggage.
• Bicycles: You can bring a folding e-bike or a manual scooter, but an e-scooter, e-unicycle, e-skateboard, and hoverboard are not allowed.
• Children: Kids under 5 travel for free, and aged 5–15 get 50% off most tickets. Up to four children can enjoy £2 fares during off-peak times when travelling with an adult.
• Pets: Two pets maximum can travel when kept on a lead or in a carrier.
• Passenger Assist: Help with carrying luggage and accessing the platform, offer ramps and transportation, and give help and guidance on tickets.

Southeastern is a major train operator offering high-speed services to popular destinations like Hastings, Beckenham, and Rochester while serving key London stations such as Victoria, Waterloo East, and Charing Cross.

• Standard Class: Enjoy free WiFi, spacious luggage areas, and comfortable seating. Priority seats with extra legroom are near train doors and labelled. Newer trains have power outlets under each seat pair.

• Luggage: You can store larger items of luggage in the racks or overhead storage areas.
• Bicycles: Non-folding bikes and e-bikes cannot be taken on board during busier hours. Tandems, e-scooters and e-skateboards are not permitted on any trains.
• Children: Children under 5 travel free with a ticketed adult, while each adult can bring up to four children aged 5-15 for £1 each.
• Pets: Up to two small animals can travel with you and they must always be on a lead or in a carrier.
