It takes around one hour and a half to get from Newark-on-Trent to London with LNER.

On your trip, you’ll head south towards London and pass through numerous English counties, such as Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, and Hertfordshire. You’ll then arrive in Greater London before pressing onward to Kings Cross.

Departing from Newark Northgate

The train from Newark-on-Trent to London leaves from Newark Northgate Station, which is on Appleton Gate, not too far from Newark Northgate Retail Park.

Local buses and taxis can drop you off outside the station’s entrance. There are also 289 car parking spaces which are in operation all week.

Newark Northgate is a large station on the East Coast Mainline. Accordingly, LNER and East Midlands Railway are the primary users of this station, serving destinations as diverse as Edinburgh, London Kings Cross, and Lincoln.

Main stops

There are only three stops from Newark Northgate to London Kings Cross: Grantham, Peterborough, and Stevenage.

Arriving at London Kings Cross

Situated on Euston Road in the Borough of Camden, Kings Cross is the southern terminus of the East Coast Mainline, making it one of the UK’s most central railway hubs. It connects the capital with the east of England, such as York, Stevenage, and Newcastle, and the east of Scotland, like Edinburgh.

It’s also a brilliant station to arrive at because it boasts quick and hassle-free public transport links along with a wealth of things to do nearby. For example, it’s only a two-minute walk to St Pancras International Station, and London Euston is further up the road for those with ongoing rail connections.

Kings Cross Station is also home to a London Underground Station of the same name, serving the Circle, Metropolitan, Hammersmith & City, and Victoria lines. Taxis and bus routes are available outside the station along Euston Road, too.

If you’re in the mood to go sightseeing in the capital, then you’re in luck. The Gagosian Gallery, the British Museum, and Bloomsbury Theatre are within walking distance. If you’re feeling peckish, visit Coal Drops Yard for a spot to eat or, if you prefer, a place to shop till you drop.
