Watford to London Trains From £8.00*

Watford is only sixteen miles from Central London, so travelling directly with West Midlands Trains takes only fifteen to twenty minutes, while the London Overground train takes longer.

As you travel from Watford to London, you’ll pass through the twee commuter towns of Hertfordshire and then descend into North London before arriving at London Euston.

West Midlands Railway runs a comprehensive network covering key Midlands cities including Birmingham and Wolverhampton, as well as many smaller towns. It also offers regular connections between the West Midlands and London Euston, linking smaller commuter towns in areas like Hertfordshire to the capital.

Departing from Watford

There are two ways to get to London Euston from Watford. The London Overground departs from Watford High Street station, which is closer to the town centre, while West Midlands Trains leaves from Watford Junction station.

Ultimately, they both go to the same destination, although catching the West Midlands Trains service from Watford Junction to London Euston takes around twenty minutes. In comparison, the London Overground train takes around 48 minutes. So, which one you choose will ultimately depend on your location within the town, how long you are prepared to travel, and your own personal preferences.

Main stops

If you travel with West Midlands Trains, there is only one stop at Harrow & Wealdstone.

Using London Overground adds sixteen extra stops, which are: Bushey, Carpenter’s Park, Hatch End, Headstone Lane, Harrow & Wealdstone, Kenton, South Kenton, North Wembley, Wembley Central, Stonebridge Park, Harlesden, Willesden Junction, Kensal Green, Queens Park, Kilburn High Road, and South Hampstead.

However, these are subject to change due to scheduling, bad weather, faults or engineering works so it’s best to check before you travel.

Arriving at London Euston

London Euston sits between Cardington Street and Eversholt Street in Camden. It's an ideal starting point, easily reachable by bus, taxi, and the extensive London Underground, which offers direct access to the Northern and Victoria lines for further connections across the city.

There’s plenty to explore around London Euston as well. Just a few tube stops away is the lovely Bloomsbury, home to the British Museum and many other attractions in London worth visiting.

The London Overground runs train services throughout London and its outskirts, reaching areas that the Underground does not adequately cover, particularly in the outer parts of the city or areas a little further afield, like Watford in Hertfordshire.
