While not as busy as its bigger Scottish brothers – Glasgow Central and Edinburgh Waverley- Glasgow Queen Street Train Station is Scotland's third busiest station. It shuttles passengers to Edinburgh, northern Scotland, and Glasgow’s northern suburbs.
Glasgow Queen Street Station predominantly serves destinations in the Central Belt and Highlands of Scotland, running services to Oban, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, and Inverness. Its larger chum, Glasgow Central, mainly serves the Lowlands of Scotland, Edinburgh, and cross-border services to England.
The station was opened in 1842 as Dundas Street Station before being renamed Queen Street Station. In 1878, civil engineer James Carswell completely redesigned it and introduced electric lighting. This was one of the earliest uses of electricity in the entire city of Glasgow.
Glasgow Queen Street has plenty of amenities, such as:

There are also tons of shopping, restaurants, and cool bars along Sauchiehall Street and Buchanan Street, the latter of which runs south from the station. Glasgow Queen Street is also the closest station to Glasgow Caledonian University and the University of Strathclyde, giving the area a hip student vibe. Plus, the Gallery of Modern Art is just off Buchanan Street, on Queen Street, in between Glasgow Queen Street and Glasgow Central railway stations.
